Awareness Seminar on Cyber Harassment Against Women held on 10-06-2026 at District Haripur

The District Youth Office Haripur successfully organized an awareness seminar on “Cyber Harassment Against Women” at Working Folks Grammar Higher Secondary School for Girls No. 1, Haripur.

The seminar aimed to educate young women about online safety, digital rights, cybercrime prevention, responsible use of social media, and available reporting mechanisms against cyber harassment. The session provided students with valuable guidance on protecting themselves in the digital world and responding effectively to online risks.

The event was organized under the leadership of Madam Nazia Shaheen, District Youth Officer Haripur, whose commitment to youth empowerment, awareness, and positive engagement continues to support meaningful initiatives for the young women of the district.

Addressing the participants, Madam Nazia Shaheen emphasized that awareness regarding cyber safety and harassment prevention should not remain limited to schools and colleges only. She highlighted the need to extend such initiatives to the district and tehsil levels for wider public awareness and community outreach.

During her address, she also briefed the students about the role and functions of the District Youth Office Haripur, including youth empowerment activities, awareness campaigns, skill development programs, volunteerism, and community engagement initiatives. She encouraged students to actively participate in the Youth Volunteer Program, highlighting the importance of volunteerism, civic responsibility, and positive contribution to society.

Madam Nazia Shaheen further introduced the participants to the initiatives of the Youth Affairs Department and highlighted the importance of Jawan Markaz Haripur as a dedicated facility for youth development and engagement. She informed the audience that approximately 80% construction work of Jawan Markaz Haripur has been completed. Upon completion, it will provide a modern platform for educational, recreational, leadership, training, and capacity-building activities for the youth of Haripur.

The resource person, Madam Sonia Rafaqat, delivered an informative and engaging session on various forms of cyber harassment, including online bullying, identity theft, blackmail, misuse of social media, unauthorized sharing of personal information, and digital abuse. She explained practical measures for online protection, such as safeguarding personal information, using strong passwords, managing privacy settings, and being careful while interacting on digital platforms.

She also briefed the participants about relevant cyber laws of Pakistan, legal remedies, and official reporting mechanisms available in cases of online harassment. Students were guided on how to respond to cyber harassment by preserving evidence, seeking support, reporting incidents, and maintaining mental well-being.

At the conclusion of the seminar, shields and certificates were distributed among the resource person, guests, organizers, and participants in recognition of their valuable contribution and active participation. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and a group photo, marking the successful completion of the awareness session.
