Educational And Recreational Study Tour to Taxila Museum and KhanPur Dam

In connection with the HEC Undergraduate Internship Program 2026, jointly organized by District Youth Office Haripur and Dard e Insaniyat Welfare Foundation, a Special Study and Recreational Tour of Taxila Museum and KhanPur Dam was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Hamid Ali Awan who provided comprehensive guidance and mentorship to the young interns throughout the visit. The primary objective of the tour was to enhance awareness of Pakistan’s historical heritage among the youth, promote research-oriented mindset, and strengthen experiential learning and tourism, to provide young interns with practical exposure alongside theoretical knowledge, and to familiarize them with informative activities along with recreation.

The interns had the opportunity to closely observe Gandhara Art, ancient artifacts, sculptures, and historical relics preserved in the museum. Subject experts delivered detailed briefings on the ancient civilization of Taxila, Buddhist heritage, and the historical and cultural importance of the region. During the visit, participants were given a detailed briefing on the history of Khanpur Dam as well, its water reservoirs, the power generation system, and its significance to the region. The interns showed keen interest in the scenic beauty of the dam, water sports activities, and the surrounding natural landscapes.

This study tour not only fostered a spirit of teamwork and mutual cooperation among the youth, but also provided them with valuable insights regarding the importance of tourist sites and the need for their conservation. District Youth Office and Dard-e-Insaniyat Welfare Foundation remain committed to providing such educational and exposure opportunities to empower the youth with knowledge of our rich cultural heritage, also to promote holistic development and civic awareness among the youth
